About MzansiWins: our SA team and editorial standards

MzansiWins is written and edited in South Africa, for punters betting in Rand with SA-licensed bookmakers. That shapes what we cover and what we refuse to publish. This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to, and how you hold us to them when we get something wrong.

Who writes this site

A small SA-based editorial team, publishing under pen names, with a named writer and a named fact-checker on every page. The bylines are pseudonyms, the reviewers are real, and each one has a profile on our authors page. Thabo Mokoena covers regulation, Sipho Nkosi covers sport and tips, Lerato Dlamini covers casino, Naledi Khumalo covers payments.

Every rating starts with an account we opened ourselves. The full process, including what we refuse to publish, sits on our review methodology page.

Written for the South African market

Local means specific here. Prices in Rand, deposits through the rails SA punters actually use, kick-off times in SAST, and coverage built around the PSL, the Boks, SA20 and Greyville rather than a generic global template.

It also means we write the licensing position as it is. Online sports betting and horse racing are legal with a provincially licensed bookmaker. Interactive casino-style gambling is prohibited by section 11 of the National Gambling Act 7 of 2004, and the Remote Gambling Bill (B11-2024) lapsed in May 2024 without replacement, per the bill tracker. A National Assembly committee began weighing a committee bill in November 2025, covered by Legal Academy.

The regulatory picture we write to

A National Gambling Board directive to the provincial licensing authorities, reported on 28 February 2026 and issued under sections 33 and 34 of the National Gambling Act, told provinces to stop approving or allowing remote gambling servers and to act on non-compliance, per Casino.com. The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications will not issue, renew or extend letters of certification for remote gambling servers, referencing SANS 1718-4:2018 (Edition 3).

Provinces still differ. On 21 October 2025 the Supreme Court of Appeal held in Portapa (Pty) Limited t/a Supabets and Others v Casino Association of South Africa and Another that roulette is not a sporting event under the Gauteng Gambling Act 4 of 1995, which stops Gauteng-licensed bookmakers pricing casino-game outcomes (Betline). The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board said in November 2025 that the judgment does not apply to its licensees, and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator permits casino-style contingencies. So we name the board behind each brand instead of flattening the whole market into one sentence.

Why this matters

SA punters have seen enough copied licence numbers, offshore sites and invented review test logs that trust has to be earned page by page. Publishing what we commit to, with a link next to each one, gives a reader something to hold us to. If we fall short, our corrections policy is how you tell us.
