Palace have run out of goals
Pierre Sage's side lost 2-0 at Tottenham on Saturday after Mateta was sent off in the 13th minute. That followed a 5-0 defeat at Brighton and a 2-0 home loss to Newcastle.
Palace have conceded 21 league goals in nine games. Their only home win came against Nottingham Forest in October.
Chadi Riad, Ismaïla Sarr and Takehiro Tomiyasu are injured, while Quinten Timber and Jørgen Strand Larsen are doubts. Palace drew 1-1 with Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday, rescued by Daichi Kamada's stoppage-time goal after Adam Wharton was sent off.
Liverpool need a reaction
Andoni Iraola's side lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal on Sunday, with Kai Havertz scoring after an Alisson error. They then lost 3-2 at Fenerbahçe on Wednesday after leading twice through Trey Nyoni and Alexander Isak.
Their away league form is far better than their recent results suggest. Liverpool drew 2-2 at Newcastle and won at Ipswich, Bournemouth and Brentford.
Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong are out, and Ryan Gravenberch is a doubt with a heel problem. Dominik Szoboszlai is fit again, and Isak, Florian Wirtz and Cody Gakpo are expected to return after rotation in Istanbul.
Why we back the away win
Two defeats in a week will sting, but Palace without Mateta have little to hurt Liverpool with. The hosts have not scored in 270 minutes of league football.
Both sides played in Europe midweek, so fatigue cancels out. At @1.56 the price respects Liverpool's wobble without ignoring the gap in quality.
