How We Rate Bookmakers
Every bookmaker on MzansiWins gets scored on a 5-point scale across 7 categories. No vibes-based ratings here - each category carries a specific weight based on what actually matters to South African punters.
Rating Categories
Welcome Bonus (25%)
We look at the headline number, but more importantly, the wagering requirements, minimum deposit, expiry period, and how painful the claim process is. A R5,000 bonus with 50x wagering is worse than a R500 bonus with 3x wagering - and we are not afraid to say it.
Odds Quality (20%)
We compare odds on PSL football, Springbok rugby, and international cricket across all bookmakers. Tight margins mean more rands in your pocket. Every percentage point matters when you are punting regularly.
Payment Methods (15%)
Can you deposit with Ozow, EFT, vouchers, and cards? Great. But the real question: how fast do withdrawals actually land in your account? We time them. With a stopwatch. Okay, not literally, but close.
Sports Coverage (15%)
Market depth is everything. We check PSL coverage (player props and corners, not just match result), Currie Cup rugby, Proteas cricket, horse racing, and the niche stuff like MMA and eSports. More markets means more fun.
Platform Quality (10%)
Mobile is king in SA. We test load speed, navigation, bet slip usability, and whether the app crashes mid-accumulator. Because nothing ruins your day like a frozen screen when you are trying to cash out.
Live Betting (10%)
In-play market availability, how quickly odds update, cash out options, and live streaming. If you can watch and bet at the same time without buffering, that is a win.
Customer Support (5%)
Response time, available channels (live chat, email, phone), and whether local SA support agents are available. Bonus points if they actually solve your problem instead of sending you in circles.
Overall Score
The overall rating is the weighted average of all 7 categories, rounded to one decimal place. We update scores quarterly or whenever a bookmaker makes significant changes. No one gets a free pass forever.
